Born in 1961. Educated at the Commenius University, Bratislava in Slovakia. After her studies she worked at the publishing house Tatran in Bratislava. Today she devotes her time to painting, ceramic objects and writing poetry. Eva Filipova's paintings are moving in the stream of non artificial arts, between naivism and lyric abstraction.

Eva Filipova works with many different techniques and methods, including reciprocal and sophisticated connections and combinations. And besides classic tempera and oil you can meet collage, frottage, relief layer, by including textiles and stones in the pictures, drawings in paintings and paintings in drawings etc, etc.
At the same time, using these different techniques is not formal and self purported (or exposed to emotions), but instead intentional, as a result of seeking and as a "play" with the material. And what otherwise would bring this stream of artistic creation, which with purpose try to escape postmodern negation and to make esthetic objects of fullness, as a result of projection of poetic feeling, view of the world. The world where you have place for beauty, play and happiness.

Those thematic circles of Eva Filipova's work are in harmony with her poetics but with distance to only tastefulness (observe - poetic is not the same as tastefulness.) In pictures of Eva Filipova you can see the glimpse of circus' and theatres' environment, you can see animals in different situations and unexpected relationships, in the series of pictures of Panoptikum the abstract interferes with the realistic and here the written poetry transforms from intrinsic to visible. (By the way, in the written poetry Eva Filipova achieved important success in the different literature concourses and she has been published .....)

A special part of the work of Eva Filipova is the work for children. And the word "children" refers not only to the small and dear children around us but also to the children we have inside. We talk here about the world of fantasy, fairy tale pictures where everybody can meet everybody, where nothing is unusual and where even very simple things seem mysterious.

The childrens' perspective on the world is what grown ups at the same time are missing. It might be because of this missing child, we like to sleep - in the short reflexes of our dreams we regain this quality of sincere visibility and suprise. When time has already forced us to adulthood we can at least in our dreams be children again. Eva Filipov has in her pictures succesfully captured this world of fantasy and every time you encounter her pictures you can be conscious (or at least subliminary perceptive) that she opens for you new space, that you enter different magic worlds.

In addition to pictures of small format, which aim at children and their parents, Eva Filipova has also created many pictures in big formats for galleries, expositions and for decorations of concrete interiors, doctors' waiting rooms, schools and hotels see enclosures.
