What is AGADA? |
|
In a dictionary we can read that it is the name for unhalachic, narrative texts which do not have law character (halacha - traditional Jewish law, part of Talmud). The Agadical writings contain wide range of genres: stories from The Bible, fables and folklore, anecdotes, but also medical information and philosophical or theological knowledge. |
|
Jewish musical culture has been so multiform element of the worldculture events, that it is simply impossible to define it in any single piece of writing. It is not only complex of psalms or chants, but it rather an omnipresent medium not knowing any limits. At the same time it can be seen as motivating power of creation both of composing and performing all over the world. |
|
The truth is that some common elements of artificial music, presented by the people with the Jewish roots, can be traced. For example: a captivating refinement, based on perfect mastership (represented by Mendelssohn), an inimitable ability for transformation from banality to spirituality (Mahler), ingenious combinatory (Schonberg) or connecting apparently incompatible worlds (Milhaud or on the other side Gershwin). Finally we could talk also about inimitable effect of virtuosity or about obsessed seeking of melodical beauty as other common features of Jewish artificial music. All these are just little bits, that by far do not put together the whole mozaik of the unbelievably complicated fluidum. |

Gaining of knowledge only for its own sake, nearly fanatic love to justice and longing for personal independence - these are the features of Jewish tradition, which made me thank the stars that I belong to It. |

Our Agency offers wide spectrum of compositions and performers with the aim to enrich the culture life. We endeavour to make the Jewish tradition more accessible. Besides most of the classical works we offer repertoire, which can be divided into four thematic groups: |
1. Classical Jewish authors and their wll-known compositions, which often have connections with Jewish traditions and festivals (Mendelssohn, Bloch, Rubinstein, Gershwin, Bernstein and the others) |
2. "Authors of Terezín" and their touching compositions: full of hope but yet telling about the tragedy of nacism and holocaust (Haas, Klein, Krása, Ullmann, and the others). |
3. Popular Jewish melodies and Jidish songs in klezmer style. |
4. Less known Jewish authors. |
|
We also offer combined musical and literary programmes. |
|
Music is one of the most important parts of the Jewish culture heritage. Great number of famous composers and world-known performers are of Jewish origin or have positive attitude to the Jewish culture. In our country this important area is slowly vanishing. Therefore our agency endeavours to bring the Czech Jewish music world back to life and at the same time enrich our musical scene with real music jewels - concert performances of Czech prominent artists and famous soloists (Pavel porcl, Petr Maceček, Jiří Bárta, Kateřina Englichová, Petr Jiříkovský and many others), members of chamber ensembles (Jupiter Quartet, Herold Quartet, Stamic Quartet, Academia trio. Smetana trio etc.) and also members of symphonic and chamber orchestrac (Czech Philharmony, FOK orchestra, National Theatre Orchestra, Talich Chamber Orchestra, Suk Chamber Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Prague and the others). All these artists can form verieties of ensembles and some of them can perform their solo recitals. |
