The Citizens Association Milislav was founded as the backers of the historic theatre in Litomyšl association. This foundation is a result of a long-terms endeavors of the castle administration and of the group of enthusiasts for increasing interest in this castle theatre and for its successive renewal.

The Castle Theatre in Litomyšl is one of the few preserved material documents of the theatre culture of the 18th century not just in this country, but also in the whole Europe. The space of the castle theatre, which is almost in intact standings, and the unique collection of the stage scene decorations by Joseph Platzer are the reasons why the theatre belongs to the monument world theatre culture. The Association Milislav in the tight cooperation with the castle administration will endeavor to better propagation of the castle theatre, thoroughly knowledge of all its parts and all related aspects. Ending effects of Association's activity should be continuous renewal of the original functions of the theatre's particular parts. So that the theatre will be approached its original resemblance and become functional monument of the theatre culture.

The play of F. W. Ziegler - “Liebhaber und Nebenbuhler in einer Person” had especial position on the stage of the castle theatre in Litomyšl. The main personage of this play, the knight Liebenau, was named Milislav in the Czech version of this play from 1800. This Czech version of the play made by Prokop Šedivý, with a name "The Lover and The Rival in One", was performed at the date of the 200th anniversary of the first performance in the theatre and that's way we decided to name our association as Milislav.

One of association's intention is creation of the complete collection of information about the castle theatre in Litomyšl. These web pages should be one of our instruments for presentation of results of our activities. The texts have been written by Jiří Bláha and translated by Jiřina Svojanovská. Most of photos were made by Jiří Bláha (jb) and Petr Svojanovský (ps).

These pages will be supplemented and edited accordingly with progress of working and researches. We will be pleased for all your suggestions to these web pages.
