The castle Theatre in Litomyšl is an example of the rare extant historic theatre. The equipment of the theatre hall has been preserved in the relatively good conditions - above all the stage machinery and really unique collection of the original stage scene decorations. This collection is likewise rare because of the author - Joseph Platzer - and possibility of comparison with drawings or engravings.

he original equipment of the theatre wasn't restricted to the stage scene decoration and stage machinery. No one from collection of numerous costumes, which was in Wallenstein's center of attention at preparation of each performance, has been preserved. We can just dream up looks of props as well. Archival materials, mainly theatre's inventories and technical scripts for performed plays, describe number of objects, which were used for Wallenstein's performances. Part of these costumes and props was destroyed after selling of the castle in 1855 and another part was handed to Litomyšl amateur actors probably at the same time.

Very valuable workmanlike details have been preserved especially on the stage of the theatre. Above all there are parts of the lighting system and number of forge complements (holdfasts, hooks etc.) except the authentic machinery for changing scenes. Number of these items predicate about using parts of the stage machinery and expressively aid to cognition of the technical aspect of the theatre operation.
